Natural Beach and Sea-Grass Beds
We are very fortunate to have a small, sandy beach at our complex. The beaches in the Florida Keys are few and far between, unlike mainland Florida. Right off of our beach are natural sea-grass beds, consisting of shoal grass, manatee grass and turtle grass. These sea grass beds are of great ecological importance and are not to be removed or tampered with. These sea-grass beds are NOT to be confused with the seasonal sargassum wash-up that occurs approximately each May through September. Sargassum is a different type of grass and ecologically significant in its own way, it washes ashore in sometimes large piles each summer season, depending on weather and tidal conditions.
